In November we appealed for donations of sanitary products to ensure all young people that needed them would get them.
The appeal was a major success and we are know in a position to support young people in the community as well as in school.

Young people who were isolating were supplied products in the community.

As many of you will have seen on our social media our delivery has had to be adapted so follow the government restrictions.
food parcels are been delivered once a week in the St Helens ward, plus sanitary products.
Online support is still very much active and we very much urge young people if they need support contact us through our social media platforms.
The lunchtime period project is going from strength to strength. We now deliver the project in both Outwood Shafton and Carlton schools, and the community. It is vital that we continue to support these young people. We will continue to distributing sanitary products and support them in group sessions and one to one work. We would like to say a massive thank you to the community for donating products to this project.
Happy New Year everyone. So we are off to a busy start. Our full programme is back this January. We are also planning our 2020 school holiday provision, lots of exciting activities happening in the school holidays more information will be on our Facebook page. The SWAG project is going from strength to strength. Our New Lodge women’s support group recently organised an afternoon tea. The group made a fantastic £500 and will be donating the profits to Barnsley Homeless.
The Old Town Women’s group have also been working hard organising a stall for the Christmas fayre, making product to sell. They made a fabulous £60 that will be donated to the choir that they all attend and participate in.
The MAD girls are doing an amazing job, the project is all about raising awareness about positive mental health. The girls are working towards their first performance that will for Women’s International day in March.
Thank you once again the the North Area Team Barnsley for funding this project. The funding has allowed us to get the projects up and running. We are in the process of looking for future funding to support the project.
We are now into our 3rd year of our listening support project in the 2 Outwood Academy’s in Barnsley. Each half term we have been working with 2 different groups of young people, listening to their issues and supporting each individual throughout. We have been extremely fortunate to receive funding from the North East Area council to support this project.
In addition to this project the team supported the NHS stop smoking service that were in school once a week working with with the young people. The project ending in July 2019 but we are pleased to say the project will be back in January 2020. The Ad Astra team will once again be supporting the NHS.
We are now delivering sessions in Outwood Academy Carlton & Outwood Academy Shafton, supporting young people with issues relating to their menstrual cycle. Our sessions offer advice, support and distribution of sanitary products. We aim to support young people back into education. Workshops in confidence, self esteem and healthy mental health are being delivered within both schools. This is an open access project open to any young person that needs support and guidance.
We are so excited to announce our new projects for 2019.
We have now launched the SWAG project ( stronger women and girls) . This project is been delivered to support women and girls in the North area of Barnsley. We now run 2 women’s support groups and 2 dance sessions for younger girls focusing on confidece, self esteem and positive mental health.
